For over 10 years, founder Julie Davis has been an active cat advocate running Misfit Rescue out of her home. To Julie, misfits are the cats that are most in need of compassion and care.
Often, they are cast aside as the people or resources in their lives have moved on without them. Or, they have never been noticed as the world around them failed to see them struggling. While out in the community trapping cats for spay and neuter or feeding community cat colonies, cats in need seem to find Julie.
She and her team of volunteers provide daily care for them at the rescue, lovin’ the Misfits as they recover from medical intervention, prepare to find a home for those able to be adopted, or become one of the beloved geezers in hospice care.
Julie is also a valuable community resource for all things cats, active in her Facebook group (Active Cat Trappers), and serving on the board of directors for a two nonprofits. She has been featured on the KUTV news program Pay it Forward and in Utah Stories and Catalyst magazine for her lifesaving work.
